Screen International “Star of Tomorrow” Lola Petticrew (they/them) has worked constantly in the short time since they graduated from drama school, establishing themselves as one of the rare actors who shines on stage, film and television screens. With each critically acclaimed performance, they continue to convince with each carefully chosen role, cementing their reputation as an exciting young talent to watch.In summer 2024, Petticrew starred in A24’s Tuesday, opposite Julia Louis-Dreyfus, from first-time feature director Daina Oniunas-Pusić. They were chosen after a lengthy audition process involving hundreds of actors. The film premiered at the 2023 Telluride Film and BFI London Film Festivals. Following this, they lead FX’s limited series Say Nothing.In November 2022, Petticrew appeared alongside Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan in She Said, the well-received American drama directed by Maria Schrader for Universal Pictures.They were seen in Nathalie Biancheri’s Wolf alongside George MacKay and Lily-Rose Depp in 2021. Also that year, Petticrew starred as “Jane Seymour” in the Channel 5 series Anne Boleyn, opposite Jodie Turner-Smith and Paapa Essiedu. Additionally, they played “Orla” in Three Families, a two-part series set between 2013 and 2019 in Northern Ireland following three women affected by the strict abortion laws. For their performance in the series, Petticrew was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama at the 2022 Irish Film &amp; Television Academy (IFTA) Awards.In February 2021, Petticrew appeared as James Nesbitt’s daughter in thriller Bloodlands. The four-part series was broadcast on BBC One and was instantly recommissioned for a second season after becoming the biggest BBC drama launch in 12 months. Season two aired in the fall of 2022.Petticrew portrayed the titular character in the 2020 film Dating Amber, directed by David Freyne and featuring Sharon Horgan. Their performance garnered them praise from Variety, NME, The Sunday Mail and The Dublin Enquirer as well as a nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Film at the 2021 IFTA Awards.Independent Irish film A Bump Along the Way was released in October 2019, in which Petticrew starred opposite Bronagh Gallagher. Earning critical praise from The Guardian, Screen Daily and The Irish Times, Petticrew won the Bingham Ray New Talent Award at the 2019 Galway Film Fleadh and was longlisted for the British Independent Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer for the role.In March 2018, Petticrew played “Laura” alongside Christopher Eccleston and Paula Malcomson in the three-part drama series Come Home for BBC One, written by Danny Brocklehurst. In March 2020, they played “Kate” in Michael Patrick’s screen adaptation of the stage play My Left Nut for BBC Three.Petticrew has also been recognized for their work on stage. In 2019, they played “Baba” in The Country Girls for the Abbey Theatre, Dublin, directed by Graham McLaren. Their performance garnered praise from The Independent and Broadway World. In February 2018, Petticrew appeared in Cathal Cleary’s Porcelain for the National Theatre of Ireland.
