Olivier Award-winning and Tony®-nominated Anthony Boyle is fast becoming one of the most talked about young actors of his generation.Boyle’s latest project, Shardlake, a Tudor murder mystery series based on the best-selling novels by C. J. Sansom set during Henry VIII’s reign, aired on Disney+ in May 2024. The series was written by Stephen Butchard and also starred Arthur Hughes, Sean Bean and Paul Kaye.2024 is proving to be a busy year for Boyle. He can currently be seen in Masters of the Air, released in January, and Manhunt, released in March, both on Apple TV+. Boyle also stars in FX’s limited series Say Nothing, based on Patrick Radden Keefe’s best-selling book.Last year, he was seen in Tetris, starring alongside Taron Egerton and Toby Jones, which premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival.2021 saw Boyle star alongside Toby Jones in the lead role in Danny Boy, which premiered on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer in May of that year and was met with excellent reviews.In 2020, Boyle played the role of “Alvin Levin” in HBO’s critically acclaimed limited series The Plot Against America, adapted by Ed Burns and David Simon. He acted alongside Winona Ryder, Zoe Kazan and Morgan Spector. The series was met with across-the-board praise for its exemplary acting, storytelling and TV making.Boyle acted alongside Nicholas Hoult, Lily Collins and Colm Meaney in the 2019 film Tolkien, a Searchlight Pictures film written by Stephen Beresford and David Gleeson. He was also seen in Patrick Melrose, the Emmy®, BAFTA and Golden Globe®-nominated limited series for Showtime/Sky Atlantic starring Benedict Cumberbatch and written by David Nicholls.Boyle won a prestigious Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his career-defining performance as “Scorpius Malfoy” in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. He was also nominated for a Tony Award. Throughout both West End and Broadway runs, he received unanimous praise and dominated column inches in the critically acclaimed productions. The play made theater history after winning a record-breaking nine Olivier Awards and then went on to win six Tony Awards, including Best Play.For this role, Boyle was also awarded Most Promising Newcomer at the Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards and was selected as one of Screen International's “Stars of Tomorrow.” He was nominated for the Emerging Talent Award at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards as well as Outstanding Actor in a Featured Play at the Drama Desk Awards for his performance on Broadway.Boyle was training at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama when he was cast in Cursed Child. Prior to this, he co-wrote and performed in the one-man show East Belfast Boy and was seen in Ordeal by Innocence and BBC’s Come Home.Boyle can also be seen alongside Timothy Spall and Rebecca Manley in Philip K. Dick’s sci-fi anthology series Electric Dreams and in Andrea Harkin’s BAFTA-nominated short film The Party, set during The Troubles in 1972 Belfast. He has also appeared in HBO’s Game of Thrones.
