The well-respected headman of Ajiro Village, Muraji is a devout Christian, a hardworking fisherman, and a spy. With a mysterious and well-guarded past, Muraji is fiercely loyal to his lord and his village.&nbsp;

Muraji is not modelled after a real figure in history, but his character is based on this type of local samurai who acted as spies for their real lords. Warlords made extensive use of espionage to gather information about the situation in the fiefs of other lords, as well as subordinate fiefs. They employed spies in all these fiefs, either openly or by secretly communicating with some local nobles or samurai, or by sending their own ashigaru to these fiefs to settle there or just travel through them. Shinobi were also used. The division between samurai and peasants was rather ambiguous, as provincial samurai would engage in farming in times of peace. Since there was a lot of migration during wartime, much of the information gathering by these spies went unnoticed.&nbsp;
