Justified: City Primeval

After running an advertising agency for twenty-five years representing Volkswagen of America, Audi of America and the Hiram Walker Distillery, Peter Leonard retired in 2009 and soon realized he had to do something with his life, reinvent himself. He didn’t play golf or shuffleboard and wasn't interested in bird watching or gardening, but he had been thinking about writing a novel. His father, Elmore Leonard was the inspiration for Leonard’s wanting to write fiction and the reason he never did. But he decided that if you’re fifty-four and retired, you can throw caution to the wind. Leonard wrote a novel called Quiver, which he sent to the literary agent Andrew Wylie in New York and eight months later his first novel was published by St. Martin’s Press. Since then, he’s written eight more books and is currently wrapping up another.Today, Leonard divides his time between writing crime novels and running Elmore Leonard, Inc., bringing his father’s books, movies and TV series to a new generation of fans.When he’s not working, Leonard plays tennis, cooks, watches TV, collects wine, reads, listens to music and travels. He lives in Birmingham, Michigan with his wife, Julie and his dog, Sam.
